Our 6th and 7th grade students will be participating in the Reading Language Arts (RLA) STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test on Friday, February 6th.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) uses field tests to "test the test questions." By having students answer these questions now, the state can ensure that future versions of the STAAR test are valid and fair.
Please be assured that because this is a field test, the scores do not count toward your student’s grades, nor do they affect our school’s accountability ratings.
While the data helps the state, this is also a valuable opportunity for our students. It serves as a "dress rehearsal," allowing them to become comfortable with the online testing platform and the types of reading and writing questions they will see during the official STAAR administration later this spring.
Even though this is a practice run, it is important that students do their best. Please help us by ensuring your student:
- Gets a good night’s sleep on Thursday.
- Eats a healthy breakfast on Friday morning.
- Arrives at school on time.
- Brings their fully charged school device.
