Supporting Your Student After MAP Scores

MAP Growth assessment results provide a valuable picture of your student’s academic progress, highlighting both their strengths and areas where they may need extra support.
If your child is struggling in a particular area or you’re looking for actionable ways to support their learning at home, Navarro ISD has put together helpful guidance and learning tools.
Visit our Navarro Ready, Engaged, Prepared Resource Page to access strategies, activities, and tools designed to help your student grow and stay on track this school year.

Attendance Reminder: Every Period Counts!

A quick reminder for secondary parents and students: attendance isn't just recorded once a day during 3rd period. Teachers take roll every single class period, and every period affects a student's record and course credits. Missing a specific class regularly—whether it's 1st period in the morning or 7th period at the end of the day—can jeopardize credit for that individual subject, even if a student is present for the rest of the school day.

Key Takeaways for Families
  • Every Period Matters: If a student misses a period more than ~9 times in a semester, they risk losing credit for that class—even if they have an A or B average.  Students will have to make up those hours or attend Summer School.
  • Excused Absences Still Count: While submitting parent and doctor notes is vital for truancy prevention, excused absences still count against the 90% threshold for course credit unless the absence is specifically exempted by law.
  • Plan Ahead: Try to schedule appointments at varying times during the day so your student doesn't repeatedly miss the same subject.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students stay on track for credit completion!

Student ID's

Students are required to wear their Student Identification Cards visible all day. These may be worn on a lanyard or on a clip worn on their shirt. Students will receive a temporary ID on the first day of school. Permanent IDs will be distributed in a few weeks.

Replacement IDs: The first replacement ID will be free of charge. Following that, there is a $5.00 fee for replacements. Students can visit the library to receive their replacement IDs.

Please help your student find a place to store their IDs at home so they will not forget to bring them to school.
